What causes Bowen’s disease? This cancerous disease may be caused by damage to skin due to exposure to sunlight, some chemicals such as arsenic, and contact with some viruses such as HPV (Human papillomavirus), or due to compromised immune system due to any serious illness such as HIV infection. Bowen’s disease is a type of Squamous Cell cancer of the skin.
Symptoms
Bowen’s disease results in the development of slow-growing skin lesions, which can take the form of dry, scaly plaques or reddish-brown patches on the skin.
These patches may also:
- bleed or ooze pus
- itch
- Be gentle with others’ bodies
The following skin conditions can be similar to Bowen’s disease:
