Leucorrhoea

From inside the uterus or its covering as well as from the Os, discharge of various tints (white, bluish, milky, yellowish, seneous or tarry) can occur; this is called leucorrhoea. The discharge, being usually of whitish colour is popularly called ‘the whites.’ Scrofulous women and sometimes unhealthy young girls suffer from it. If these cases are neglected, the discharge becomes purulent and produces ulceration in and about the Os. Headache, pallor of the face, constipation, flatulence, dyspepsia is usually associated with it. Chill, worms, dirty, stimulating food, broken down health, excessive coitus, occasional mennorrhagia, cancer, repeated abortion, irritation inside the uterus are the usual causes; it is common in the scrofulous and phlegmatic subects.

Treatment

Calc. Carb. 30-200 Discharge is milky; burning sensation in uterus; itchiness and pain in uterus; patient is a young girl or of scrofulous nature. Puls. 6 Useful in all forms. Thick whitish discharge increases after menstruation; pain is not constant. Sepia 6-200 Pain is like that of Labor; constipation; greenish or watery, foul-smelling discharge; patient is lean and hysterical. Acid Nitric 6 Leucorrhoea is due to syphilis, excessive use of mercury, or chronic ill-health; discharge at first turbid and thick, becoming after 5 or 6 days watery and saneous with foul smell. Kreosote 6 Yellow discharge, smelling like fresh grains and coming on 4 or 5 days after menstrual period; itching and stinging pain; pain in the back; discharge produces ulceration on thighs. Bryonia 12 Chronic discharge like that of egg-albumen; patient imagines her head swollen or big. Leucorrhoea acrid, thick, tough, greenish, appears after menses. Cannot bear tight clothing around waist. Borax 6: Discharge is like white of an egg and hot. Sensation as if warm water was flowing. Graphites 30-200 Thin light coloured profuse discharge; acrid urine; weakness of back. Alumina 30 When all medicines fail. Sulphur 30 Where patient has suffered long.

If discharge is white or yellowish: Merc. Sol., Sepia, Calc. Carb., China, Natrum Mur. The watery discharge Sabina, Ferrum, Puls. Strong acrid discharge: Acid Nitric., Puls., Ars., Kreosote. Hot scalding discharge: Graphites 3x or Hydrastis 3x. Milky discharge: Silicea, Calc. Carb., Puls., Lyco., Ferrum. Saneous discharge: Lyco., Kreosote, China, Greenish discharge: Carbo Veg, Sulphur 30, Merc., Kreosote. Yellow discharge Kali bi. Foetid discharge Carbo Veg., Calc. Carb, Sepia, Puls. Thick Discharge: Sepia, Mezereum, Zinc. Discharge only during night Ambra Grisea 3, Causticum 30. Discharge only during day: Alumina. Discharge on rising in the morning Carbo Veg.

[All these medicines are to be used in 6th potency. Stop taking medicines from time to time.]

Patient should lead a physically and morally clean life. Irrigation of vagina is recommended when pregnancy is not present and foul-smelling discharge is present. Light nutritious diet that is not stimulating, good hygienic surrounding and an easy life are recommended.
