Morbid Jealousy, also known as Pathological Jealousy, Othello Syndrome, or Delusional Jealousy, is a psychological disorder in which a person is preoccupied with the belief that their spouse or sexual partner is being unfaithful without any real evidence, as well as socially unacceptable or abnormal behavior related to these thoughts.

The Oxford English Dictionary defines jealousy as feeling or displaying resentment towards a person one thinks of as a rival; whether or not such a rivalry actually exists is less significant.

It is important to note that individuals may experience morbid jealousy even when their partner is being unfaithful, provided that the evidence they cite for unfaithfulness is correct and the response to such evidence on the part of the individual is appropriate.

Women, on the other hand, tend to use a blunt object or knife when using violence, while men who experience morbid jealousy focus on the rival’s status and resources when it comes to the threat of jealousy they fear.
