Homeopathy Medicine for Scrofula

197

In the condition known as scrofula, the bacteria that causes tuberculosis manifests symptoms in locations other than the lungs, typically in the neck lymph nodes, which become inflamed and irritated.

Another name for it is lymphatic system tuberculosis.

The most prevalent type of tuberculosis infection that affects people externally to the lungs is scrofula.

Before the 18th century, physicians believed that touching a member of the royal family was the only way to cure scrofula, which was historically known as the “king’s evil.”

Symptoms

The side of the neck is where scrofula most frequently manifests as swelling and lesions; this is typically a swollen lymph node or nodes, which may feel like a small, round nodule and is typically not tender or warm to the touch. The lesion may start to enlarge and may even begin to drain pus or other fluid after a few weeks.

A scrofula sufferer may also experience the following in addition to these symptoms:

  • fever
  • a generalized ill-feeling such as malaise
  • night sweats
  • unexplained weight loss

Causes

Mycobacterium tuberculosisAdults most frequently contract scrofula from a bacterium called.Mycobacterium avium intracellularecan, in a small number of cases, also lead to scrofula.

Children who put contaminated objects in their mouths can develop the condition, which is more frequently brought on by nontuberculosis bacteria.

Risk factors

Immunodeficient individuals are more susceptible to scrofula.

Because their body doesn’t have as many immune system cells, particularly T cells, to fight off infections, people who are immunocompromised—due to either an underlying condition or medication—are more likely to develop the condition.

When exposed to tuberculosis bacteria, HIV patients taking antiretroviral medications frequently exhibit more inflammatory reactions.

Complications

It’s possible for scrofula to spread beyond the neck and affect other parts of the body, as less than half of those with scrofula also have tuberculosis in their lungs.

Additionally, a person may have a neck wound that drains continuously, which exposes the body to additional bacteria and increases the risk of serious infections.

HOMOEOPATHIC TREATMENT

AURUM METALLICUM

When syphilis is implanted on the scrofulous constitution, we have one of the most intractable morbid conditions, and gold seems to be especially suited to the vile combination. Gold is used as an anti-venereal and anti-scrofulous remedy that is very old, but has been well-nigh forgotten by the old school until rediscovered and placed on its scientific basis by homeopathy, and now it can never be lost again.

DROSERA

A strong case can be made for considering Drosera in any disease if there are tubercular manifestations or a strong family history of the disease. Under the influence of Drosera, old cicatricial tissue yields and softens; deep, tied-down scars relax and come up, so that deformity is significantly reduced.

CALCAREA CARBONICA

The majority of the head’s sweat, which is sour and mostly contained to the scalp, is present.

offensive. The fontanelles are open, the abdomen is large, and the upper lip is swollen; this is characteristic. There is constipation with chalky stools. Partial sweating is very characteristic, especially around the head at night. Emaciation, the skin hangs in folds that are flabby.

SULPHUR

Child looks like a dried-up old man; skin is yellow, wrinkled, flabby, and dirty; head is large; fontanelles are open; there is defective osseous growth; tendency for rickets and caries of the spine; voracious appetite; diseased glands; patient hungry and underweight.

BARYTA CARBONICA

In addition to pimples, humid sores, and other skin manifestations, it also has a large abdomen, hunger, and emaciation. It also has stony hard indurations and is mentally and physically weak.

SILICEA

This remedy is suitable for treating gland swellings, suppurations, and scrofulous diathesis.

The presence of boils, indurations, and carbuncles as well as poor nutrition resulting from mal-assimilation rather than a lack of food are all symptoms of Silicea.

GRAPHITES

It is particularly indicated by the unhealthy skin conditions, the eruptions it produces, as well as the anemia; it produces an anemia almost as marked as Ferrum. The patients needing Graphites are especially prone to getting colds. Infiltration of tissues is another condition. Other symptoms include enlargement of the glands in the axilla, groin, and neck, skin symptoms, thin, offensive, and partially digested diarrhea, a large and hard abdomen, and large and hard abdomen.

PHOSPHORUS

Because match factory workers have been particularly susceptible to consumption and have experienced tooth decay and bone necrosis, it appears that Drosera also weakens resistance to tubercle.

In addition to treating bone problems, phosphorus also treats “Scrofulous glands,” but only in the typical slender Phosphorus child, who develops too quickly and is delicate, waxy, anemic, bruises easily, is a lover of ice cream, is anxious when alone, fears the dark, and is generally indifferent and apathetic.

THERIDION

“It appears to go to the root of the evil and destroys the cause,” “Has an affinity for the tubercular diathesis,” “Has been used in caries and necrosis of bone with success,” “Has an affinity for the tubercular diathesis,” etc.
