Homeopathy Medicine for Antidote

72

When a person is reacting improperly to a homeopathic remedy, an antidote may be administered to counteract the effects. High temperatures are thought to antidote remedies. Mint is said to be an antidote of Natrum muriaticum. Many people believe that coffee antidotes homeopathic remedies.

The term “antidoting” refers to the blocking, negation, or reversal of a remedy’s beneficial effects. Over the past few years, experience has revealed that antidoting is less frequent than previously believed and that many people can be exposed to potential antidotes without the remedy’s healing effects being diminished. Nevertheless, it is advisable to avoid the following substances, especially during the first few weeks of treatment, to ensure that your remedy has the full scope of action.

• Coffee:Coffee flavoring in commercial products is also acceptable (very little real coffee), but Kahlua and Irish coffee may counteract; interestingly, it is not the caffeine that counteracts; you can drink caffeinated tea, coke, or eat chocolate.

• Camphor:Camphor is commonly found in cough lozenges; it is safe to use as long as you are careful not to get it on your skin. Tiger balm, liniments, Vicks, Ben Gay, some chapsticks, and most noxzema products should be avoided.

• Mothballs:Use cedar chests or other alternatives instead of inhaling smells, and avoid doing so.

• Drilling on teeth or bone:It is usually best to postpone homeopathic treatment until after dental work, as dental drilling and ultrasonic teeth cleaning may counteract your remedy. Sonicare toothbrushes, however, do not counteract since they do not actually use ultrasound.

• Prescription drugs:If you are taking antidepressants, blood pressure or heart medications, you may do better with frequent repetitions of a higher potency of your remedy. Estrogen, birth control pills, and thyroid supplements also may slowly antidote, and may require more repetition of the remedy. Antibiotics may antidote, though not always immediately. Steroids, especially systemic (for example, prednisone taken by mouth), may antidote a remedy.

• Electric blankets may antidote your remedy. The use of a local warmer to warm your bed and turn it off before getting in is acceptable and poses no problems.

• Geothermal Baths:In contrast to brief exposure or sitting poolside, full immersion for an extended period of time may be an antidote.

• Recreational Drugs:Marijuana slows the healing and may antidote, cocaine, speed, LSD, and other “hard drugs” are potent antidotes, a single drink of alcohol won’t affect the treatment, but a heavy intoxication usually will.

• Acupuncture:Acupressure and Shiatsu are acceptable treatments for local injuries, though they may be counterproductive if used for more serious issues.

• Other substances:Swedish Bitters, Pau d’Arco tea, Sunrider and KM products, over-the-counter Chinese herbs, and Australian Tea Tree Oil are also contraindicated.

• Hot permsAntidoting could result from using the hair dryer.
