NAME BY ORIGIN: Gelsemium sempervirens (Linn.) Ait F.

FAMILY: Loganiaceae

BIGNONIA, ENGLISH-YELLOW JAMMINI.

A showy, fragrant, bright yellow flower with flat, winged seeds that are an evergreen vine with opposite, lanceolate to ovate-lanceolate, entire, short petioled leaves.

DISTRIBUTION: In rich, moist ground along the region’s coast, in Virginia and Mexico.

HOMOEOPATHIC USES

HEADACHE: The patient wants to lie with his or her head raised on a high pillow and to be completely still, as that provides relief. Headache from mental labor and smoking tobacco. Headache preceded by blindness. Sensation of a band around the head above the eyes. Scalp sore to touch. Headache is better from pressure and on copious amounts of epsom salts.

INFLUENZA: A bland running nose that is accompanied by headache, eye pain, and weakness, dizziness, and sleepiness. There is also a frequent and violent chilliness that runs up and down the back. The face becomes flushed and dark red. There is no thirst.

Post-diphtheritic paralysis, complete relaxation and prostration of the entire musculoskeletal system, complete lack of muscular co-ordination, inability of the muscles to obey the will, paralysis of various groups of muscles around the eyes, throat, chest, larynx, extremities, etc.

Vertigo symptoms include diplopia, dim vision, loss of vision, and a drunken appearance when moving. Vertigo can spread from the occiput.

Palpitations, a slow, weak pulse associated with aging, and the feeling that the heart must continue to beat in order to continue functioning.

Mother tincture has a potency of at least 30.
