Primary otalgia, which is defined as ear pain that originates from the ear and has a wide range of causes, is a common presentation in the primary care setting. Otitis media and otitis externa are the most frequently occurring causes of primary otalgia.

Anyone can experience ear pain, which can be acute or chronic and originate either locally in the ear or from distant locations.

CAUSES OF OTALGIA

  • Trauma.

HOMEOPATHIC MEDICINE FOR OTALGIA

BELLADONNA :Very effective medication for ear pain that is throbbing and tearing. Administered when ear pain is caused by acute middle ear inflammation (Otitis Media). Recommended when patient complains of pain that seems to be very deep-seated. High fever may also accompany earache. Very effective for throat infection with pain in throat radiating to the ear.

CHAMOMILLA :Given when the patient appears to be oversensitive to pain, when there is extreme mental agitation accompanying the earache, when the pain may be worse in cold air or at night, and also given to children who become agitated due to earaches and who find relief if they are carried

VERBASCUM THAPUS :Verbascum Thapsus, also known as Mullein Oil, is a very effective medication for ear pain of nerve origin. It is also effective for earaches that are a component of facial pain of nerve origin (Trigeminal Neuralgia). It is typically recommended when pain is more pronounced on the left side, gets worse with even the slightest movement, and is accompanied by persistent dryness in the ear.

PULSATILLA :Very effective medication for ear pain accompanied by a thick discharge from the ear. The patient may also experience hearing loss and a heavy, stuffed-up feeling in the ear. The discharge is typically green in color and of a non-irritating nature. Open air may help with ear pain.
