A homoeopathic mother tincture is made from the dried bark of the Guatteria gaumeri plant, a 10 to 15 m tall tree with a blackish-colored bark that is listed in the Homoeopathic Pharmacopoeia of the United States.

One of the most popular homoeopathic remedies for liver complaints, Guatteria gaumeri acts on the liver, gallbladder, kidney, and pancreas. It has been reported to treat gallstones. It has affinity to improve digestive complaints with liver and biliary manifestation.

A clinical study has shown a decrease in TC, LDL, and VLDL and an increase in HDL.1 Studies have found that its main component, Alpha-asarone, is primarily responsible for this by decreasing the secretion of lipids.2,3,4 It is also found to be non-toxic.

Hyperlipidemia and other liver problems are indicators.

Guatteria gaumeri from Schwabe’s can be taken either on its own or in combination with other medications.

If complaints are not relieved, consult a specialist. Dosage: Unless otherwise prescribed, 10-20 drops administered 2-3 times daily, as needed.

Schwabe’s Guatteria gaumeri does not have any known side effects when taken as prescribed.
