HOMEOPATHY FOR NEURASTHENIA

111

ICD-10 describes Neurasthenia as having two or more of the following symptoms: persistent or distressing complaints of dyspepsia, dizziness, tension headaches, increased fatigue after mental effort, or of weakness/exhaustion after minimal effort.

Before diagnosing neurasthenia, it’s important to rule out other medical and psychiatric disorders that present with fatigue as well as this clearly ill-defined syndrome, as well as other syndromes that share this symptomatology.

Chronic fatigue syndrome is diagnosed in the absence of medical or other psychiatric disorder(s), though neuropsychiatric symptoms may be present. Chronic fatigue syndrome is characterized by profound fatigue (present at rest, and made worse by physical and mental effort), muscle pains, headache, sore throat, functional impairment, and non-specific soft signs, such as mild fever, mild lymphadenopathy.
