Patient complains of severe pain in the eye preventing sleep. On inspection, the circum-corneal area is congested and looks red. Photophobia and lachrymation are present and the affected pupil is smaller than the other. The condition may be ACUTE IRITIS.

Rheumatic, syphilitic, and tubercular are the three types of this iris inflammation, which can also be brought on by local trauma or as a result of keratitis or conjunctivitis.

Photophobia, lachrymation, reddened blood vessels in the eyes, pain that is primarily localized to the eye and is deep-seated, at first small, then irregular pupil size, and photophobia are all symptoms.

Management and Treatment

Rhus toxicodendronhas photophobia, swollen, red, oedematous orbital cellulitis, profuse flow of yellow pus, suppurative iritis, iritis brought on by exposure to cold, dampness, or arthritis, eye pain with eye movement, and frequently ptosis and paralysis of the eye muscles.

Spigelia anthelmiaPhotophobia; rheumatic ophthalmia; profuse lachrymation; severe pain around the eye that extends deep into the socket; ciliary neuralgia; patient complains of pressive pains when turning the eyes; pupil dilation; eyes that feel excessively large; red, sore, drawing ache; and photophobia.

Kalmia latifoliaRheumatic iritis is characterized by stiff eyelids, painful and drawing sensation when moving the eyes, itching in the eyes, stinging when rubbing them, and vision that darkens when looking downward.

Kalium iodatumis recommended for people who have syphilitic iritis. This condition is characterized by persistent ascillation of the eyeball, twitching of the lower eyelids, oedema around the eyes, and profuse lachrymation.

Mercurius corrosivussuits normal or syphilitic iritis, which causes intense photophobia, deep corneal ulcers, burning, and soreness, muddy-colored iris that neither contracts nor dilates, oedematous lids, red and excoriated skin, and double vision frequently.

Nitricum acidumhas symptoms that are similar to syphilitic iritis, including upper eyelid paralysis, ulcerations on the cornea, constant lacrymation, and sharp, stabbing pains in the eyes.
