FAMILY: Solanaceae

COMMON NAMES: Tamil: Achuvagandi, Asgandh in Hindi, Amukkuram in Malayalam, and Winter Cherry in English.

The leaves are long, ovate, sub-acute, petioled, and nearly all parts are more or less stellately tomentose. The flowers are greenish or lucid yellow, and the fruit is red when ripe.
