Homeopathy Medicine for Esophageal Varices

207

Esophageal varices are abnormal, enlarged veins that typically develop in people with severe liver diseases in the esophagus, the tube that connects the throat and stomach.

When a clot or scar tissue in the liver blocks normal blood flow to the liver, esophageal varices form because blood flows into smaller blood vessels that aren’t meant to carry large volumes of blood and can leak blood or even rupture, resulting in life-threatening bleeding.

SYMPTOMS OF ESOPHAGEAL VARICES

Esophageal varices typically don’t cause symptoms until they bleed, at which point they may show the following signs and symptoms:

  • bloody vomit that is abundant
  • Bloody, tarry, or dark stools
  • Mild headache
  • in some extreme cases, unconsciousness
  • Jaundice causes the skin and eyes to turn yellow.
  • Easy bleeding or bruising
  • (Ascites) Abdominal fluid accumulation

CAUSES OF OESOPHAGEAL VARICES

Esophageal varices can develop when blood flow to the liver is restricted, most commonly by scar tissue in the liver brought on by liver disease. When blood flow starts to back up, pressure in the large vein (portal vein) that carries blood to the liver increases.

These smaller, thin-walled veins, like those in the lowest part of the esophagus, balloon with the additional blood and occasionally burst and bleed as a result of this increased pressure (portal hypertension), which forces the blood to seek out alternative pathways.

Esophageal varices can be brought on by:

  • Severe liver scarring (cirrhosis).Cirrhosis can be brought on by a variety of liver conditions, such as hepatitis infection, alcoholic liver disease, fatty liver disease, and a condition known as primary biliary cirrhosis that affects the bile ducts.
  • Blood clot (thrombosis).Esophageal varices may result from a blood clot in the portal vein or in the splenic vein, which is a vein that feeds into the portal vein.
  • Parasitic infection. The parasite that causes schistosomiasis, which can harm the liver, lungs, intestine, bladder, and other organs, is present in parts of Africa, South America, the Caribbean, the Middle East, and East Asia.
