Homeopathy Medicine for Hemophilia

As we all know, when we get a cut on our skin, there may be bleeding that stops automatically due to the presence of some chemicals [called as Factor 8 (VIII) and 9 (IX)]. When these chemical factors are lacking in the blood, however, the bleeding does not stop on its own. This is exactly what happens in Hemophilia, an uncommon, serious disease found in children where bleeding does not stop on its own.

A bleeding (coagulation) disorder called hemophilia affects the body’s capacity to control blood clotting, which prevents blood from flowing after a blood vessel is cut. It is an X-linked genetic disorder that results from a deficiency of factor VIII (hemophilia A) or factor IX (hemophilia B).

The word “hemophilia” comes from the Greek words “haema” and “philia,” where haema denotes love and philia, blood.

Incidence-Due to the X-linked nature of the condition, boys are more likely to be affected because they have two X chromosomes, making them more likely to inherit the condition and exhibit symptoms than do females, who typically carry the condition but do not exhibit any symptoms.

Signs and symptoms of Hemophilia

  • bleeding that occurs either internally or externally on any part of the body, including the brain, intestines, nose, ears, skin, joints, and more.
  • In the blood tests, the bleeding, thrombin, and prothrombin times are all within normal ranges, but the partial thromboplastin time is prolonged, resulting in spontaneous prolonged bleeding compared to normal individuals due to factor loss.
  • Hemophilia arthropathy, which can also cause permanent disfigurement and disability, is a tendency to bleed in the joint space, especially into the knee joints, without any obvious trauma.
  • The majority of the time, children with mild to moderate hemophilia are symptom-free, but they can occasionally experience frequent falls while walking, which can lead to easy bruising and injuries.
  • A prolonged period of bleeding during a dental procedure may cause mild hemophilia to go undetected and lead to an accidental diagnosis.

Hemophiliacs are more likely than healthy people to get any infections, including the common cold and cough.

Causes of Hemophilia

Hemophilia is a condition in which one of the clotting factors that our bodies use to stop bleeding is deficient.

There are several types of hemophilia, and the majority of cases are inherited, but about 30% of hemophiliacs have no known relatives who also have the condition, and this is because one of the hemophilia-related genes unexpectedly undergoes a change in these individuals.

The condition known as acquired hemophilia, which manifests as an immune system attack on blood clotting factors, can be linked to:

    • Pregnancy
      • Autoimmune conditions
      • Cancer
      • Multiple sclerosis

Complications

  • Hemophilic arthropathy, or haemarthrosis, causes joint damage.
  • Internal bleeding that is severe and life-threatening, such as intracranial hemorrhage
  • HIV and hepatitis C transfusion-related infections
  • transfusion-related adverse reaction

Homeopathic treatment of Hemophilia

There are many homeopathic remedies that show to be useful in controlling the bleeding tendencies in hemophilia. These homeopathic medicines have an affinity for the act on the blood vessels, capillaries and help in accelerating the healing mechanism. They create varied pathogenesis in the major arteries and veins of the body causing hemorrhage, oozing, effusion. Some studies by hematologists have shown the efficacy of homeopathy for the management of Hemophilia.

It is well known that they can stop bleeding and speed up the healing process by stimulating certain blood vessel factors.

Acute exacerbations of hemophilia can be managed with the conventional line of treatment, but long-term cases of the disease may benefit from homeopathy as a supportive treatment because it lessens the need for expensive clotting factor concentrates that not everyone can afford.

The frequency and duration of bleeding episodes, as well as the likelihood of easily bruising, can be decreased with homeopathy, which is also an economical treatment.

Homeopathic medications act at the immunity level, boosting the immune system to prevent the recurrence of infections, which frequently occurs in hemophiliacs. Colds and coughs are a common entity found that can be treated with a properly selected homeopathic remedy. Long-term homeopathic treatment poses no risk of any side effects.

Homeopathy promises to enhance the patient’s quality of life and also help patients to lead an independent life by further extending life expectancy, which leads to the conclusion that homeopathy has a good scope in treating various hemophilia-related parameters and presentations through an individualistic approach.
