HOMOEOPATHY–FIFTY MILLESIMAL SCALE POTENCY

111

Potencies prepared under this method are referred to as fifty millesimal potencies by Dr. Schmidt of Geneva because the material part of the medicine is said to be decreased by 50000 times for each degree of dynamization. Dr. Schmidt’s name was given by Dr. Pierre Schmidt of Geneva. Dr. Hahnemann himself referred to this new method as “renewed dynamization.”

The potency created by this scale is denoted as 0/1, 0/2, 0/3, o/4 and M/1, M/2, M/3, M/4 ETC in India and Bangladesh, while it is denoted as 1/0, 2/0, 3/0 etc. in the west.

Some authors have suggested LM/1, LM/2, LM/3, ETC, where L is for 50 and M is for millesimal, and 0 is a symbol for the poppy-sized globule used in each dynamization. It is also known as Q potency.

PREPARATIONThe usual method of trituration is used to triturate all materials, whether dry or oily, with milk sugar up to the third centesimal scale, i.e., one grain of medicine with 100,000 grains of milk sugar for three hours, with the final drug strength being 1/100,000.

The drug strength here will be 1/5x 100,00,00,00. This is the mother tincture of 50-millesimal scale. One grain of this powder is dissolved in 500 drops of a solution of one part alcohol to four parts distilled water, converting the dry trituration into liquid form.

POTENTIZATION-In order to prepare the medicine in the first degree of dynamization or the first potency, a drop of this mother tincture is placed in a suitable vial of neutral glass, to which 100 drops of pure alcohol are added, filling the vial to two thirds of its capacity. With this, one hundred strong successions are given with the hand against a hard but elastic body.

Only one globule of the medication so prepared is placed in a second new glass phial, one drop of distilled water is added to dissolve it, 100 drops of pure alcohol 95% is added, and the solution is given 100 powerful successions. With this alcoholic medicinal fluid, globules are once more moistened, spread out on blotting paper, and quickly dried. These are then placed in to well corked phial with the sign 11 of the second and kept shielded from heat and

REPETITIONFrom this phial, one tablespoonful is taken and placed in a glass of water, containing about 7-8 spoonfuls, thoroughly stirred, and a convenient dose is given to the patient. – One globule of the medicine prepared according to the 50 ML scale is dissolved in 7-8 tablespoonfuls of water and thoroughly successes 8, 10, or 12.

There are patients of such great sensitivity that a third or fourth glass, similarly prepared, may be necessary. Each such prepared glass must be fresh daily. If the patient is unusually excited and sensitive, a teaspoonful of the above solution may be put in a second glass of water, and after thoroughly stirring, teaspoonful doses or more can be given.

PLUSSING METHODPlussing is the process of adding additional water to the already-prepared dose, stirring it again, and repeating the process until two spoonfuls remain, one of which is given to the patient and the other is saved for future plussing.

ADVANTAGE

Minimum Homoeopathic aggravationBecause there is less material involved, homoeopathic aggravation can be avoided, minimized, or even controlled, allowing it to be applied to even the worst cases without the risk of violent and dangerous aggravation.

Quick cure of chronic diseases-The shortest amount of time can be used to treat chronic diseases that are long-lasting, difficult, and intractable.

Frequent repetition permissibleThe remedy can be repeated daily, every 1, 2, 3, 4, or 6 hours without fear of adverse effects from the medication in both acute and chronic diseases.

Skin and Mental diseases-This potency can effect the cure smoothly without causing the patient the least amount of irritation, which can be very harmful to the patient and confusing to the doctor.
