Benefits & Uses

The following ailments can be treated using mustakarishta

Lack of appetite

Patients with acute and chronic illnesses can benefit from regular treatment with Mustakarishta, which can increase their appetite, reduce the risk of deficiencies, hasten the healing process, and help them return to their normal lives feeling energized.

Digestive problems

Mustakarishta is frequently used in cases of gastroenteritis, in which patients experience severe vomiting and diarrhea; this medication provides relief from these symptoms; helps to maintain the energy levels; and increases the ability of patients to perform their daily activities. It acts as a tonic for the digestive system, aids in treating gastrointestinal disturbances, and promotes the breakdown of food.

Malabsorption syndrome

Malabsorption syndrome has been successfully treated with mustakarishta, which increases the absorption of vitamins and minerals from food by enhancing the functions of the digestive tract.

Irritable Bowel Syndrome

Although Mustakarishta is indicated for the treatment of Irritable Bowel Syndrome, patients should start taking it in a low dose as in some cases the stomach is unable to tolerate the spices used in its preparation. Once their body has adapted to the herbs, they can start taking the regular doses.

Dosage of Mustakarishta

  • Its recommended dosage is 12–24 ml taken once or twice daily after meals, or as directed by an ayurvedic physician.
  • Only using this medication in a lower dose in children older than 7 years old is safe.

Precautions of Mustakarishta

Although using mustakarishta in very high doses may cause gastric irritation and loose stools, it is made from only pure natural herbs and has no harmful chemicals, so it does not have any side effects.

By staying away from the higher doses, these side effects, which are generally mild, can be easily avoided.

When taken by a pregnant woman, this medication may have unknowable effects on the fetus.

Women who are pregnant or nursing should speak with a doctor before taking Mustakarishta during these times because there is no evidence to support its safety when taken by them.

It should be kept in an amber-colored bottle that is tightly closed, cool, and dry.
