Homeopathy Medicine for Eclampsia

Pregnant women who experience seizures due to high blood pressure have a condition known as eclampsia, a severe complication of preeclampsia.

Periods of unbalanced brain activity known as seizures can lead to violent shaking, convulsions, and episodes of staring.

Symptoms

You may experience symptoms of both preeclampsia and eclampsia because they can occur together; however, some of your symptoms could also be caused by other medical conditions, such as diabetes or kidney disease. It’s important to disclose all medical conditions to your doctor so they can rule out other potential causes.

Preeclampsia frequently manifests as the following symptoms:

  • elevated blood pressure
  • increase in size of hands or face
  • headaches
  • excessive weight gain
  • nausea and vomiting
  • issues with the eyesight, such as episodes of blindness or haze
  • difficulty urinating
  • upper right abdomen in particular, with stomach pain

The following are typical signs of eclampsia, which can manifest in patients with the same symptoms as those listed above or even without any symptoms at all.

  • seizures
  • loss of consciousness
  • agitation

Causes

Preeclampsia is characterized by high blood pressure that occurs during pregnancy and, in rare cases, after delivery. Eclampsia frequently develops after preeclampsia, and other symptoms, such as protein in the urine, may also be present.

High blood pressure

Preeclampsia is a condition that develops when your blood pressure, or the force of blood against the walls of your arteries, rises to a level that damages them and other blood vessels, causing swelling in the blood vessels that supply your brain and your developing baby, restricting blood flow, and possibly even causing seizures.

Proteinuria

Protein in your urine, also known as proteinuria, is a common sign of preeclampsia and frequently affects kidney function. Each time you see a doctor, your urine may be tested for protein.

If your kidneys’ filters, called glomeruli, are damaged, protein can leak through and excrete into urine. Normally, your kidneys filter waste from blood and create urine from these wastes. However, the kidneys try to retain nutrients in the blood, like protein, for redistribution to body.

Risk Factor

You might be at risk for eclampsia if you have preeclampsia or have ever had it.

Other potential causes of pregnancy-related eclampsia include:

  • pregnancy-related or persistent hypertension
  • being either over the age of 35 or under the age of 20
  • twin or triplet pregnancy
  • first-time pregnancy
  • diabetes or another blood vessel-related condition
  • kidney disease

Eclampsia and baby

Preeclampsia and eclampsia affect the placenta, which is the organ responsible for transferring nutrients and oxygen from the mother’s blood to the fetus. If high blood pressure impairs the placenta’s ability to do its job, the baby may be born prematurely or with other health issues.

For the baby’s health and safety, issues with the placenta frequently necessitate preterm delivery; in rare instances, these issues result in stillbirth.
