A tiny passageway known as an anal fistula forms close to the anus, which is where feces exits the body, between the bowel’s end and the skin.

A perianal abscess that frequently forms and ruptures the discharging point open in a patient has a history of occurring and not healing.

Causes of Fistula-in-Ano

Anal abscesses and clogged anal glands are the most common factors leading to anal fistulas, but other, much less frequent factors include:

  • An inflammatory bowel condition called Crohn’s disease
  • Radiation (treatment for cancer)
  • Trauma
  • Sexually transmitted diseases
  • Tuberculosis
  • Diverticulitis, a condition in which the large intestine develops small pouches that become inflamed
  • Cancer

Symptoms of Fistula-in-Ano

An anal fistula can present with the following symptoms:

  • Frequent anal abscesses
  • Anus-region discomfort and swelling
  • The pain may subside after the fistula drains, and there may be bloody or foul-smelling drainage (pus) from the anus area.
  • Anus-related skin irritation caused by drainage
  • Pain with bowel movements
  • Bleeding
  • A general feeling of exhaustion, chills, and a fever

Homeopathic Treatment for Fistula-in-Ano

Calcarea sulphuricaGiven for unhealthy skin and all wounds have a tendency to heal slowly. Very effective for pus-like, slimy discharge from the bowels and painful abscesses around the anus. Useful in supparative processes, which occur after pus has found a vent. There is a tendency for a suppuration of thick, yellow, lumpy, and frequently bloody pus.

Hepar sulphurisGiven to patients who are extremely chilly, but who do better in damp weather and wrapping up their body and heads. Useful for ulcers that are surrounded by small pimples. There is great sensitivity to all impressions with a tendency to suppuration. Useful for splinter-like pains and cravings for sour things.

Silicea terraUseful when stools are held back out of fear of pain, fistula-in-ano alternates with chest symptoms, and other ailments related to opus formation.

Ratanhia peruvianaUseful for fissure in the anus with great constriction, burning like fire; given when stools are forced out with great effort. -Used for fistula in the anus with constriction in the rectum, as if sharp splinters of broken glasses were present.

Nitricun acidum– Useful for bowels that are constipated with fissures in the anus; indicated when there is great straining but little passes; there is violent cutting pain after stools; useful for bright and profuse hemorrhages from the bowel after stools; and also for prolapsed of anus with burning in the anus after urination.

CausticumUseful for sore, burning anus, hard, rough stools covered in mucus, prolapsed anals while coughing, itching in the rectum that is relieved by cold water, given when anus is insensitive to solid stools, large hemorrhoids impeding the stool, large haemorrhoids obstructing the stool, and partial paralysis of the rectum.
