The lining of a joint or tendon gives rise to a small sac known as a ganglion, which typically develops when the tissues surrounding a particular joint become inflamed and swell with lubricating fluid.

Causes:

Ganglion formation is more common in women (M:F = 1:3) and occurs 70% more frequently in late adolescence and early adulthood than in men. It is typically brought on by some type of joint trauma, though the exact cause may not always be clear.rheumatoid arthritisoccupational factors are important in the development of ganglion, and certain occupations, like those involving typewriters, that call for repetitive use of the wrist and fingers, put workers at risk for developing ganglion cysts.

Symptoms:

Ganglia are typically painless swellings that can develop around any joint, but the condition can become painful when the ganglion presses nerves. This pain can limit an individual’s range of movements and activity. They can grow in size or can disappear spontaneously. The most common places where ganglion formation is seen are on the wrist (typically the back side) and fingers. They can also develop on the shoulders, elbows, and knees.

Homeopathic Treatment:

Ruta:It is an excellent treatment for ganglion. Paralytic stiffness of the wrist. Shooting pain in the wrist. Sensation of stiffness and sprain in the wrist. Pain in the wrist when lifting weights. Numbness and tingling after exertion. Spasmodic contraction of the fingers. Swollen veins on the hands after eating. Rut is suitable for scrofulous exostosis, bruises, and other mechanical injuries of the bones and periost.

Carbo veg:Acute drawing pains in the forearms, wrists, and fingers; relaxation of the arm and hand muscles with laughter; tension in the hand joints; cramp-like contraction of the hands; heat and burning in the hands; cold sweat covering the tips of the fingers; paralysis of the wrists and fingers, especially when grasping an object; fine granulated, itchy eruption on the hands; and extremities of the fingers becoming upraised.

Causticum:Tearing in the right wrist joint, drawing pains in the hands and the joints of the fingers, spasmodic trembling and weakness in the hands, pallor and painful torpor in the fingers, pains in the arms at night, acute pulling and drawing pains in the arms and hands, convulsive movements and shocks in the arms, itching and eruptions on the arms, shooting pains in the front part of the arms from the fingers to the elbow, paralytic feeling in the right hand,
