Homeopathy Medicine for Diplopia

178

Diplopia, also known as double vision, is a loss of visual focus under normal circumstances and is frequently voluntary. It is the simultaneous perception of two images of a single object that may be displaced horizontally or vertically in relation to each other.

CAUSES OF DIPLOPIA

  • The patient recovers within a week or month. Diplopia in elderly patients may occur as a result of cerebral ischaemia or hemorrhage in the nerve sheath from an adherent atheromatous artery.
  • Diplopia that is temporary and goes away if one eye is covered can occur in people with errors of muscle balance (heterophoria) as a result of exhaustion or stress.
  • Trigeminal distribution and associated sensory changes frequently cause diplopia in the presence of pain.
  • A sudden, either painful or painless squint of the paralytic type may occur in children with tubercular meningitis.
  • Diplopia can also be brought on by any lesion that takes up space.

HOMEOPATHIC TREATMENT FOR DIPLOPIA

AURUM MET

The upper half of objects are invisible in hemiopia, and there is constant lachrymation from the eyes. This is helpful for diplopia with severe photophobia, in which both conditions — haemiopia and diplopia — may be present.

GELSEMIUM

Given when pain and discomfort persist for a long time, even after receiving corrected glasses. Very helpful for diplopia associated with multiple sclerosis. Useful for double vision when looking sideways, during pregnancy, and when experiencing headaches.

HYOSCYAMUS NIGER

Eyes roll above in the orbit. There is aversion to light, which is present when the patient’s eyes are open but they are not paying attention to the surroundings. Given when there is a feeling that the patient is constantly focusing on the surrounding objects.

MORPHINUM

Useful for diplopia with disrupted accommodation. Occurs when the eyeballs protrude and there is nystagmus. There are bluish, drooping eyelids and an unsteady gaze. Useful for internal rectus muscle paralysis.

BELLADONNA

Useful for inflammation of the retina and optic nerve, staring, brilliant, red eyes, and diminished vision from fine work, as well as diplopia and triplopia with dilated pupils.
