The term “sinusitis” refers to an infection or inflammation of the sinuses, which are air-filled cavities within the bones of the face and are situated in the cheeks, maxillary, forehead, and around the eyes, ethmoidal.

Causes

It can happen during a cold, hay fever, or irritation of the linings of the sinuses, causing too much mucus or swelling that can block the narrow channels, resulting in sinusitis. Bacteria then grow inside the sinuses, causing pain, headaches, and occasionally fever. Mucus from infected sinuses can be yellow or green. Some people get sinusitis with most colds, while others get it infrequently.

Symptoms

Sinusitis frequently manifests as:

· Blocked nose

Pressure sensation inside the nose

Pain in the face, especially when bending forward

· Headache

Nasal mucus of the colors yellow or green

· Swelling of the face

Taste and odor impairment

· Persistent cough

· Generally feeling unwell

SILICEA

PULSATILLA NIGRICANS

Headache, head feels heavy, cannot hold upright, cannot raise it. Better by lying down or binding the head tightly, walking in open air. Complete absence of thirst. Patient is mild, yielding, timid, emotional, and tearful. Cravings better when walking in open air. Bland, green colored nasal discharge. Coryza better going out in open air. Bad smell from the nose. The right nostril feels stopped, especially in the evening. Loss of smell.

MERCURIUS SOL

A catarrhal headache with a lot of heat in the head, raw, ulcerated nostrils, swollen nasal bones, yellow-green, fetid pus-like discharge with burning, profuse salivation, a fetid odor coming from the mouth, intense thirst, and a moist tongue.

STICTA PULMONARIA

Symptoms include dull heavy pressure in the forehead and the root of the nose, fullness at the base of the nose, nasal obstruction with inflamed sinuses, painful dryness of the nasal mucous membranes, constant need to blow one’s nose but no discharge, catarrhal headache before discharge appears, and relief from open air and free discharge. The symptoms are worsened by sudden changes in temperature, at night, while lying down, and improved by free discharge.

Violent headache, feels like the head is going to burst, pain in the forehead and around the eyes, headache from suppressed discharge, throbbing pain in the head made worse by jarring, touch, bending forward, lying flat, or motion of the eyes, made better by binding the head tightly or applying pressure, sitting up, or bending the head backwards.
