The eel’s serum is eminently effective at re-establishing diuresis and in quickly arresting albuminuria whenever the kidneys become acutely affected, whether from a cold, infection, or intoxication. These attacks are marked by urine retention, kidney failure, and albuminuria.

We can still anticipate positive outcomes from this serum if the kidney, which had been functioning normally before the heart disease, is suddenly affected and its function is inhibited, as well as if we notice cardiac irregularities and a clear state of asystolia (no cardiac activity).
