About Ashokarishta

An ayurvedic liquid medication known as asokarishta (also spelled asokarishtam) is almost always effective in treating diseases of the female reproductive system. Asokarishta is helpful in gynecological conditions such as heavy menstrual periods, heavy uterine bleeding, imbalanced female hormones, menopausal osteoporosis, ovarian cysts, and uterine polyps. Asokarishta is sweet,

Ingredients Of Ashokarishta

Ashoka: This herb is well-known for its analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects, as well as its positive effects on the skin. Dhataki: This herb has healing properties. Musta: This herb has palatable and anti-inflammatory effects. Haritaki & Amlaki: These herbs have regenerating, antioxidant, and immune-modulator effects, and they are helpful for general weakness.

Indications of Ashokarishta

Let’s talk about the primary health advantages and medicinal uses of Ashokarishta. Its main function is on the female reproductive system, and it balances hormone levels in the body. In menopause, it helps the body adapt to the natural processes occurring in the woman’s body. Ashokarishta has benefits in ovarian diseases and uterine disorders.

Menorrhagia

  • Menstruation that is excessively heavy or long-lasting is known as menorrhagia.

Metrorrhagia

  • Metrorrhagia, or prolonged and excessive uterine bleeding, is a symptom of a uterine condition other than menstruation and is not caused by it.

Menometrorrhagia

  • Combining menorrhagia and metrorrhagia, menometrorrhagia is characterized by heavy, more irregularly occurring bleeding that happens regardless of menstruation.

According to ayurveda, Ashokarishta is the drug of choice for all three of these conditions because it naturally reduces bleeding and regulates uterine functions. The effects may be attributable to Ashokarishta’s influence on female hormones. If bleeding occurs due to other causes, such as cervical cancer, uterine cancer, or uterine polyps, Ashokarishta alone may not work well. There are several other medications that may also be necessary for controlling

Dysmenorrhea (Painful periods)

Ashokarishta is a uterine tonic that enhances uterine functions, modulates uterine contractions, strengthens the uterus to facilitate easier uterine lining dislodging during menstruation, prevents ischemia (inadequate blood supply to the uterus), and thus lessens menstrual cramps. Additionally, Ashokarishta lessens premenstrual headache, nausea, low backache, etc.

Pelvic inflammatory diseases

The herbs used to make Ashokarishta have a potent anti-inflammatory effect, protecting the uterus, ovaries, and other reproductive system organs from harm and aiding in the management of pelvic inflammatory diseases.

Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS)

Although the conditions for its use are very different, Ashokarishta is helpful for Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS). If your periods last seven days or longer and you experience heavy bleeding, or if you have early menstrual periods that may be regular or irregular but arrive before due dates, Ashokarishta is beneficial.

The condition is Menorrhagia i.e. heavy (excess bleeding), prolonged or irregular periods, then Ashokarishta is very useful

Sukumaram Kashayam along with Kumaryasava and Chandraprabha Vati is helpful in cases where Ashokarishta is contraindicated; some may also require Agnitundi Vati or Rajahpravartani Vati (Raja Pravartini Vati); Ashokarishta also helps to restore the ovarian functions.

Menopausal Osteoporosis

Ashokarishta is essential in balancing hormones, assisting the body in adjusting to the new changes brought on by menopause, and preventing bone mineral loss. Calcium in Ashokarishta aids in maintaining bone mineral density. Bone mineral loss begins to occur in women during menopause and may also result in osteoporosis.

Effects on Tridoshas

Dosage Of Ashokarishta

In cases of heavy bleeding, your doctor might also request an increase in Ashokarishta dosage from the recommended 10 ml to 20 ml twice or three times daily.

How long to use

  • In cases of fever, anorexia, etc., this medication can be used for 4–8 weeks based on a doctor’s prescription.
  • It can be utilized throughout a heavy period for the duration of the period.
  • If your periods are very heavy, you can take it starting a week before they start and continuing through the duration of your period.

Precautions For Ashokarishta

Delay in menstruation, missed periods, and a reduction in menstrual blood flow are the two side effects of Ashokarishta that occur most frequently.

We consider ashokarishta tonic to be PROBABLY UNSAFE in pregnancy because it may have negative effects on hormone levels, which could be harmful to pregnant women.

After using this remedy, some women may experience burning, but only those who have acid reflux or heartburn experience this side effect.

As stated above in the therapeutic indication section of this article, lactating mothers who experience heavy bleeding, leucorrhea, or any other disease can take ashokarishta without risk to themselves or their nursing infants because it contains a good amount of calcium and supports bone and joint health at their best.

The bottle should ideally be finished within four months of opening.
