The skin of your genitalia, inner thighs, and buttocks are particularly susceptible to the fungal infection known as jock itch (tinea cruris), which results in an itchy, red, frequently ring-shaped rash.

Due to its prevalence in sweat-prone individuals, such as athletes, and its propensity to strike overweight individuals, jock itch has earned its nickname.

Keeping your groin area dry and clean, as well as using topical antifungal medications, are typically enough to treat jock itch, despite the fact that it is frequently uncomfortable and bothersome.

Jock itch is frequently caused by the same fungus that causes athlete’s foot; the infection can spread from the feet to the groin because the fungus can travel on your hands or on a towel. **Causes-**Jock itch is caused by a type of fungus that can be spread from person to person or from shared use of contaminated towels or clothing.

Symptoms–Jock itch typically starts as a reddened area of skin that spreads outward in the shape of a half-moon onto the upper thigh; the rash may be surrounded by a line of small, raised blisters; the skin may be flaky or scaly; and the rash frequently itches or burns.

Risk factors —Your likelihood of developing jock itch is higher if you:

· Are a man

Are a young adult or a teen?

· Wear tight underwear

· Are overweight

· Sweat heavily

Possess a compromised immune system

· Have diabetes
